Mounting Laminating and Cutting Technician

Position Summary

The Mounting Laminating and Cutting Technician produces finished graphics by laminating, mounting, trimming, and machine cutting printed materials according to work order specifications. The technician operates AGL laminators, Zünd digital cutting equipment, and Mimaki plotter cutters; verifies files, materials, measurements, and finishing requirements; and completes quality checks before moving work to the next production stage. This role requires safe equipment operation, accurate workmanship, and clear communication with production teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•  Review work orders, job tickets, cut files, proofs, and finishing instructions before beginning production; clarify missing or conflicting information before proceeding.

•  Set up and operate AGL laminators to apply the specified overlaminate, adhesive, or protective film while controlling alignment, pressure, speed, and temperature as applicable.

•  Mount printed graphics to substrates using the correct adhesive and application method; prevent bubbles, wrinkles, silvering, contamination, edge lift, and material damage.

•  Set up and operate Zünd digital cutting equipment, including loading materials, selecting the appropriate tool and cut settings, aligning or registering jobs, and monitoring cut quality.

•  Set up and operate Mimaki plotter cutters for contour cutting and other assigned finishing work, including material loading, registration, test cuts, and adjustment of cutting conditions.

•  Trim and finish graphics accurately using approved hand tools, straightedges, measuring devices, and cutting equipment to meet required dimensions and appearance standards.

•  Inspect materials and completed work for correct size, alignment, adhesion, cut path, finish, quantity, and overall quality; identify and report defects before work advances.

•  Complete required production records and update job status or stage-management systems accurately so downstream departments can locate and process work.

•  Organize, label, handle, and store laminates, adhesives, substrates, tools, and completed work to prevent damage and support efficient workflow.

•  Perform routine cleaning, inspection, and operator-level maintenance on assigned equipment; report malfunctions, unusual wear, and safety concerns promptly.

•  Coordinate priorities and job handoffs with supervisors and other production departments to support schedules and on-time completion.

•  Follow all safety procedures, equipment instructions, material-handling requirements, and housekeeping standards, including proper use of PPE, guards, and approved cleaning products.

•  Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

•  Ability to read and follow work orders, measurements, production specifications, and cut or finishing instructions.

•  Working knowledge of mounting and lamination methods, pressure-sensitive materials, adhesives, films, and rigid or flexible substrates.

•  Ability to operate or learn Zünd digital cutting systems and Mimaki plotter cutters, including basic setup, registration, test cuts, and troubleshooting.

•  Accurate use of tape measures, rulers, straightedges, utility knives, and other finishing tools.

•  Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent quality while working at an efficient production pace.

•  Ability to identify equipment, material, file, or quality issues and communicate them clearly to the appropriate team member.

•  Ability to manage multiple jobs, follow priorities, and maintain an organized work area.

•  Dependability, teamwork, and willingness to learn new materials, equipment, and production methods.

Education and Experience

•  High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

•  Two or more years of mounting, lamination, digital cutting, sign production, or large-format graphics experience preferred.

•  Hands-on experience with Zünd digital cutters and Mimaki plotter cutters strongly preferred.

•  Experience with laminators, mounting adhesives, printed graphics, and production work orders preferred.

Physical and Work Requirements

•  Ability to stand and move throughout the work shift and perform frequent reaching, bending, handling, and repetitive hand motions.

•  Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or material-handling equipment when appropriate.

•  Ability to safely handle large or awkward sheets, rolls, substrates, and finished graphics.

•  Ability to work around production equipment, moving parts, blades, adhesives, cleaning products, noise, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing environment.

•  Regular and reliable attendance is required. This is a full-time position, generally scheduled for 40 hours per week; overtime or schedule adjustments may be required based on business needs.
