Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Inspects, assembles and packages injection molded plastic piece parts according to customer specifications by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reads, understands and follows written operator instructions for each job.
- Inspects parts to ensure quality using customer and company standards. If unclear seeks direction from supervisor to avoid compromising quality.
- Removes substandard parts from process so that customer receives only high quality product in shipment.
- Keeps scrap level low by reporting any abnormal defects to supervisor or technician, who will make adjustments to process.
- Neatly completes accurate labels and tags to include necessary information and affixes to box or bag at prescribed location.
- Neatly bags or boxes quality product as per customer specification.
- Sets up scale correctly, weighs parts and records accurately.
- Completes hourly inspection/checks/measurements and records information on
- Neatly and safely trims excess material from parts, using knife or clippers.
- Grinds scrap plastic and defective parts for re-use, being careful to avoid contamination of material. Operates grinder correctly and safely.
- Empties grinder bins into proper regrind material containers to prevent contamination. Understands and follows proper regrind labeling procedures
- Basic quality measurement responsibilities, to include hourly production checks, and checking parts for various defects and reporting written/orally to quality department, molding technicians, supervisors and product development.
- Maintains consistent cycle time by avoiding unnecessary downtime, by opening & closing safety gate without delay. Achieves consistent, efficient cycle times while maintaining a high level of quality.
- When appropriate, removes finished product from mold, possibly using hand tools and/or gloves to protect skin from hot parts.
- Maintains clean, safe work station at all times by sweeping work area before, during and after the run if cycle time permits, vacuuming the press, and wiping up oil and water spills/leaks without delay.
- Assists with sets up or removal of equipment for production run, such as returning inserts, books, tables, chairs to proper storage area and keeps the storage areas organized and orderly.
- Performs secondary and or re-work operations consistent with current procedures. Reworks non-conforming items in efficient manner and neatly completes all rework paperwork
- When press is not running, performs secondary rework, sweeps, assists co-workers with making boxes, restocks materials needed by co-workers, grinds scrap plastic and sprues for reuse, vacuums & cleans dryers and grinders, and cleans presses with vacuum & oil vacuum.
- Understands loading system operations. Checks material levels periodically to ensure constant flow of material to press. Ensure materials are on hand to meet job requirements and when low reports timely to production personnel that can provide more materials or product.
