Job Description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the strategic procurement and management of materials used to produce and deliver finished goods to customers. This individual will manage and verify the terms, expectations, and conditions of vendors and suppliers to ensure the expectations of our internal partners are met.

    • Contract negotiation and accountability

    • External vendors, suppliers, and service providers
    • Create enabling processes for frequent orders
    • Other assignments as made by management
  • Inventory Management
    • Balance inventory demand and cost efficiency
    • Establish standardized reorder triggers
    • Optimize systems to deliver expected results

Key Results:

  • Strategic cost control of procurement process
  • Implementation of inventory management plan
  • Meet established expectations for quality, quantity, efficiency, and cost

Fundamental Actions:

  • Procure supplies and materials as needed by mill
  • Source providers of materials and supplies
  • Enter purchase orders accurately
  • Receive items ordered by storeroom
  • Cycle counts and inventory audits
  • Point of contact for vendors and suppliers
  • Order parts through sourced providers

Education, Certifications, and Experience:

  • Degree or certification in Supply Chain Management or similar field preferred
  • Supply chain experience will be considered in lieu of degree or certification
  • Experience in manufacturing preferred

Key Competencies:

  • Experience negotiating contract terms with vendors/suppliers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP system (preferably JDE)
  • Able to effectively communicate at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated utilization of theories of operations (6S, TPM, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

The ability to work in a normal manufacturing environment to include: sitting, standing, or walking for long periods of time; climbing stairs; operating various standard office equipment; carrying paper documents/files; reaching; bending; twisting; crawling; speaking on the telephone, etc.

The ability to wear required personal protection gear (i.e. hearing, eye and foot protection as well as other personal protective equipment such as gloves and aprons, etc.); tolerating loud noise (maximum of 95 dB); tolerating extreme heat, cold and dusty environment.
